Suonova is a sextet offering vocal music performances—essentially, performances of music and acting without instruments, preferably in Italian—and produces also vocal arrangements.
Suonova is also a non-profit organization, the Associazione Suonova Musica Vocale Suonova Vocal Music Association, whose mission is the study and promotion of vocal music, particularly in Italian.
Active since 2012, they have performed dozens of free shows, bringing vocal music to Italy and abroad.
Today, with a total repertoire of around a hundred songs, they present three shows dedicated to vocal music:
- “Vox Italica,” dedicated to the history of Italian music, from the Middle Ages to the present day, divided into “moments”: the Middle Ages, the Industrial Age, the 20th century, the 1960s…
- “Vocal Swing,” which tells the story of the passage of jazz from the United States to Italy in the early 1920s, with a repertoire that ranges from American swing classics like “It Don’t Mean a Thing” to the Italian ones “Crapa Pelada” and “Maramao Perché sei morto”.
- “Un racconto di Natale,” a fun collection of Christmas carols, told through a story featuring a mysterious “Christmas Spirit.”
To get a glimpse of their live performances, there’s a comprehensive Video section, featuring excerpts from shows, studio videos, and their much-loved Christmas songs parodies.
In their vocal music work, Suonova also independently produce most of the arrangements used in their shows, as evidenced by the extensive section dedicated to arrangements.
